Coral Springs Sedation Dentist | Easing Your Anxiety
The number of people that avoid going to the dentist out of fear or anxiety is alarmingly high. This fear keeps many people from even scheduling a routine checkup and teeth cleaning. To combat this fear, sedation dentistry has become an increasingly popular practice for modern dental offices. The goal of sedation dentistry is to keep the patient as comfortable as possible throughout their entire visit to our facility. Our specially trained Coral Springs sedation dentist uses a variety of sedation methods to help keep the patient at ease. No longer do you need to fear any potential pain that might come with any dental procedure, no matter how minor it is. You can learn more about the four different types of sedation methods we use below:Local Anesthetic:
- A local anesthetic is used prior to performing certain dental procedures. It numbs the area completely so that the patient cannot feel any discomfort or pain while the procedure is being performed.
Inhalation Sedation:
- The method for inhalation sedation involves the use of nitrous oxide (otherwise known as laughing gas). This is a common practice used for both young and old patients that soothes their tension during routine cleaning, minor oral surgeries, and other procedures.
Oral Sedation:
- Oral sedation is the most common method used by many sedation dentists. The patient is given a sedative in pill form to take orally. This sedative helps keep them calm and relaxed during various procedures and is given to the patient prior to any dental or oral surgery.
Intravenous Sedation:
- For major dental procedures, the method of intravenous sedation is performed by a trained anesthesiologist. This specialist will administer a sedative directly into the patient’s bloodstream that acts quickly. The patient is monitored closely by the anesthesiologist, who keeps a watchful eye on the patient’s vitals throughout the procedure.
